럭비를 하던 꿈

어느 날, 밤
나는 한국럭비선수단에 끼어
멀리 스코트랜드로 원정을 갔었습니다

정확하게 밤 한 시
스코트랜드 팀이 먼저 킥업을 했습니다.
공은 하늘 높이 스코트랜드 하늘에 떴다가
내려오자마자 내 가슴으로 안겨들었습니다

안겨든 공을 안고 나는 무아경이 되어
적진으로 돌진을 했었습니다
돌진하다보니 공은 바람이 되다가, 구름이 되다가,
나를 하늘로 하늘로 끌고 올라가다간
땅으로 내려뜨려 버렸습니다

순간, 나는 잠에서 떨어져서
멍청히 천정만 쳐다보고 있었습니다

밤 세 시, 실로 황홀과 무서움이
혼전하던 두 시간
침대가 축축히 젖어 있었습니다

RUGBY DREAM

One night
I went on tour far off Scotland
as a member of th Korean rugby team

Scotland kicked off
at 1.00 A.M. precisely.

The ball floated high in the Scottish sky,
and when it came down it was in my arms.

With the ball in my arms I felt rapture;
I charged the enemy line.

And when I charged, the ball became the wind,
became a cloud:
I was borne high into the sky
and then dropped unceremoniously to the ground.
Suddenly, fallen from sleep
I found myself staring blankly at the ceiling.

Three in the morning, rapture and fear for sure,
a two hour rampage:
the bed damp and wet.
