산다는 거

원성에 말려
회의에 젖어
안다는 사람은 어디나
움직이는 안개 속
동서남북, 지구는 지금
첩첩히 화약고
귀를 세워
눈 닦으며
인간의 머리는 뜬 대낮
잠들 수 없다

성당의 종소리
새벽 네시 반, 비둘기 몰고
숲을 나오면
가슴에 저려드는
어린 시절 풍경

“어머니” 없는 곳에 떨어져서
혼자 남은 이 전율
불길에 말려
사그라진 시간
인간에 끼어, 그 혼자를 산다

동서남북, 지구는 지금
어디나 화약고
산다는 게
찬 바람이다.

Dried up by reproaches
Drenched by doubts
That’s thinking people everywhere
Deep in agitated fog
North, south, east, west, the world now
Is a heaped powder-magazine
Ears pricked
Eyes rubbed
Man’s head at noon’s height
Cannot find sleep

Chapel bells
At half past four’s new morning
Drive off the pigeons
And from the woods
Evoke
Heart searing childhood scenes
Fallen here, mother gone,
Left with this dread of being alone
Dried up in flames
Time low-sunk
Wedged between men, living this loneliness

North, south, east, west, the world now
Is one great powder-magazine
And living
Is a chill wind.
