Love welcomed me!
On my morning walk to the elevator
A friendly smile and a gracious bow
Greeted me with "Annyong ha shim ni ka."
While valuable time was given
To unloose my stubborn tongue.
Love welcomed me!
In the radiant smiles and shining eyes
Of the young Korean beauties
That greeted us before entering our lecture room,
So willingly and graciously to serve.
Love welcomed me!
In the radiant smiles and shining eyes
Of the young Korean beauties
That greeted us before entering our lecture room,
So willingly and graciously to serve.
Love welcomed me!
Strolling down the flag be-decked throng lined streets
As thousands patiently waited
For a glimpse and a wave from the American President,
With knightly demeanor a young man asked
"May I escort you to the Palace?"
Love welcomed me!
Resting on the low garden wall
Several work-worn, back-bent grandmothers gathered round
Long lost sisters sharing laughter and joy,
With the help of our dedicated translator.
Love welcomed me!
Desperately looking for a Department Store
Some "Thank You" cards to find
My inquiry, falling on unknowing ears
A passer-by made quick reply,
"I'll take you to a department store."
Not one, not two, but three-until we found the treasure.
Love welcomed me!
Waiting on the bus, ready to visit the old capital
A vision of loviness-a jonguil in spring
Made her way down the aisle
A lovely smile honored me with "You are my mother!"
My full-filled heart returns with overflowing measure
The love we shared-
"I love the people of Korea."
